Duncanville Lawn Care – Increase The Life Of Your Lawn

If the grass is allowed to overgrow, it can spoil the beauty of your garden. Hence, mowing of lawns periodically is very important. Weeds and harmful pests may hide in overgrown grass. It is not very difficult to maintain the lawn properly these days owing to the availability of electrical and mechanical mowers according to the size of your lawn. Hand-held mowers are suitable for small lawns, but for big ones, you should use riding mowers.

Adequate care should be paid in mowing which is a gradual process. First, decide whether your lawn is ready for being cut. If you possess information regarding the process, the work can be done easily. You should never cut the grass deeper than required. Patience rather than skill is needed to become a good mower.

Automatic grass catches are there for larger and powered machines and they are the ones which are most appropriate for bigger lawns. This is because there is no need of a clean-up once the mowing is done. In case of smaller spaces and neighborhoods which are busy, reel lawn mowers are the best ones owing to their ability to work silently. User manuals are available with every mowing machine and they provide instructions on how to make good use of the device. It would be really effective if you read the instructions thoroughly and set the height of the wheel at the desired levels. There are some grasses like fescue which should not be cut to less than two inches, whereas warm season grasses can be cut down to even half inches according to the season.

Walk around the lawn before beginning the process and make sure that there are no loose obstacles under the grass. There is a possibility of finding children’s’ toys, bones which are hidden by your pet dogs etc, which are potential threat for the blades. Be careful to remove them before starting the machine.

One thing you should remember – never mow in a spiral pattern, the best method is to move ahead and back. Maintain a steady speed in order to cut the grass evenly without getting your blades clogged. It would be really good if you start mowing early in the morning than waiting for the sun to turn hot. In fact, you can consider lawn mowing as a form of workout also.
